As a part of last year’s Christmas Offering, you gave $15,000 to fund the Education For a Lifetime program for every high school in District 11. (That’s Coronado, Doherty, Mitchell and Palmer, in case you were wondering.)
These numbers/quotes are county-wide, but a huge chunk of that are the D11 schools. I’m so appreciative to be a part of a church that is so intentional in serving and loving our neighbors. I hope that this snapshot from EFL brings encouragement and affirmation.
We wanted to send you a quick email to say thank-you for an incredible school year! This semester, we spoke to 2,975 students in 21 schools in El Paso County.
I wanted to share with you a few of the comments we received from some of the students:
“Thank you so much for coming in to talk to our class about human sexuality. I very much appreciated it because I now have a better understanding of healthy relationships. I now am compelled to take better care of my myself and to pay more attention to the people who I affiliate myself with.”
“I heard things during this presentation I will take with me through high school. I’m avoiding sexual activity in my 25 years to impact my 75. Thank you.”
“The one thing that impacted me the most was learning the difference between a healthy and unhealthy relationship. I know now to always look out for myself in ways I didn’t know before.”
“I really had a lot to think about during your presentation due to things that have happened in my past. Your presentation help me evaluate what’s happening in my life now and how it is going to impact my future. I learned that no matter what, you should have value personally in order to have healthy relationships with others.”
“Thank you for sharing your personal stories with us. The talk about relationships and commitment influenced me by clearing up what an actual healthy relationship looks like and should be.”
“You taught me that what I do early in my life helps define the rest of it. From now on, I will look for positive relationships and avoid people who want to use me”We also received many comments from students who learned a lot during our STI presentations – so, for all of our medical speakers, thank you!
