We’re excited to share some updates from Leku Keta Kale Heywett Church, our church partners in Ethiopia!
Over the last few months, Leku Keta’s school has been experiencing serious financial strain. Because of covid, they have lost a significant amount of students and are struggling to cover basic expenses to keep the school open (let alone make a profit), even after reducing the number of teachers on payroll.
Though we are hoping that the economy will start to improve and families begin to feel more comfortable sending their children back to school, we want to continue to support our church partners in any way we can.
Rather than just sending extra money to cover some expenses of the school for now, World Orphans, the organization who connected Pulpit Rock with Leku Keta, suggested coming up with a more long-term sustainable solution.
So, a few months ago, Leku Keta’s church leaders came up with a business plan to generate income for the expenses in their church and school! They finalized plans to construct two 129 sq. ft. shops near the edge of their property that will serve as shops for the community and become a long-term financial solution once they are up and running.
The total price for constructing these two shops amounts to around $4,067 US dollars. Because of your generosity, Pulpit Rock had the opportunity to provide Leku Keta with the funds needed to make this project happen!
We are excited to announce that the construction on the foundations has now started and the new shops are underway.
Be on the lookout for updates as the construction continues!
Thank you, Pulpit Rock, for praying and for giving financially. Your generosity and faith is making a difference on the other side of the world.
