I first met Brianne McKoy when she was hired at Compassion International. She was just out of college, early twenties, and bursting with life. She was eager to learn, picked up things quickly and soon outgrew her job. She took on more responsibility and became responsible for running the blogger network at Compassion. With this job, she literally traveled all over the world. She met loads of people.
One of the people she met during this time was the man who would become her husband. (Read their amazing story.) He had a growing career in the Air Force so she knew her life of world travel and adventure wouldn’t end with Compassion, it would just look different.
When Jeremy and Brianne were married, she began writing about life as a newlywed and learning how to cook, starting what would become the successful food blog Our Savory Life.
(A quick interjection … my husband and I are what some might call foodies. And I have many of the recipes on her blog. And we have literally loved them all.)
So as her blog took off and she was meeting all sorts of people through her work with Compassion, God was also birthing in her a new idea, which eventually became her book, Come and Eat: A Celebration of Love and Grace Around the Everyday Table.
(Another quick side note. You may remember that a couple years ago we read this book together as a church, as a part of our Table series. Her words have been the basis of many conversations around our own tables.)
So with the launch of her book, she left her job at Compassion to pursue writing and blogging full-time.
Which brings us to today. And some exciting news!
Bri is going to be our featured speaker at our Presence Weekend, our Women’s Conference, happening in a few short weeks!
She is going to talk to us courage, about showing up for our lives, about what it means to be present in all the moments – it’s going to be a beautiful time together.
Plus, she’s gonna do a live cooking demo on stage.
So ladies of Pulpit Rock, if you haven’t already signed up for Presence Weekend, take a minute and sign up.
We promise, you are not going to want to miss this.
