Introducing … Expressions3Studio

At Pulpit Rock Church our belief is that God is Creator as stated in the first five words found in Genesis. Therefore we are all created in His image. We also believe at the core of who we are as individuals is a deep desire to be seen, known and loved along with the desire to express.

Therefore we are excited to launch a new creative opportunity in the community of Colorado Springs called EXPRESSIONS3STUDIO!

This new ministry is under the umbrella of Pulpit Rock and will offer creative expression in a variety of ways and classes. These creative sessions will allow people safe spaces to catch their breath, connect in community while exploring their creative nature. A new Expressions Gallery at Pulpit Rock has already been launched where rotating works of art will be featured from our own creatives as well as those in our local Colorado Springs community.

We are equally excited to announce our new partnership with Springs Rescue Mission!

We will be at SRM every Wednesday starting October 10 from 1-3 PM simply offering space, brushes, and paints along with encouragement for any creatives who might want to come create with us. As with any new program at SRM we are aware we must build trust first but are praying God will gently nudge these special people to come our way and tell their stories, their emotions and thoughts by expressing through various art mediums.

The key word in the title of this new ministry is Expressions.

Sometimes our expression takes the form of words…verbal and/or written. Sometimes it comes through our feelings and emotions but in whatever form it takes, the bottom line is we are born with a need to express. We all know the experiences of life can rob us from doing just that. Our minds often tell us that our feelings and emotions are not valid causing the paralysis of our words because we believe no one will understand and we have nothing worthy of expressing. The heaviness of it all can often settle in the deepest part of who we are and manifest itself in the forms of depression, anxiety and panic attacks to mention just a few.

Therefore the invitation to creatively express becomes vital in finding freedom in our journeys. These opportunities help us express what’s inside, to replace lies with truth both in words and images. Expression is an invitation to learn more about who we are, who God is and encourages and allows us to be a little more real in our journey.

This new ministry, just like our church, welcomes all … the professional artist as well as the child who is discovering their creative language and everyone in-between. Our goal is to offer space where people can express their hearts and minds along with beauty and color that can challenge all of us to “see” a little deeper.

Celebrate with me the courage, the time, the message and the person behind each expression. Most of us will say we are not artists or creative and yet quickly become art critics if we are not careful. We often fall prey to judge what we do not understand. Not each piece might be a work that would displayed in your home or office. But I challenge all of us to watch what God will do in this new language of expression He’s bringing our way. The creatives behind the work…no matter what age, skill level or talent…might just have something important to say to us.

EXPRESSIONS3STUDIO believes in meeting basic needs first and foremost therefore any registration fee for classes will also include one new pair of socks (which is the number one need for our homeless neighbors) and will be designated to Springs Rescue Mission.
