What is Spiritual Formation?

August 17, 2021 | Written by PRC Staff

On Sunday, we got to talk about who we want to be as a church and where God is leading Pulpit Rock. If you missed the Vision & Formation sermon, watch it here!

We want to be a healthy, loving, Jesus-centered community of faith. And we believe there are 4 things we need to value and focus on to stay healthy…

  1. Being Gospel focused, not ideology focused.
  2. Practicing identity focused discipleship and spiritual formation.
  3. Joining God’s Kingdom work in the world.
  4. Telling the whole truth about the Bible in ways that honor what God has given us.

We also want to continue engaging in the ways that God is forming us. So, we’ll be diving into core spiritual formation concepts together.

In September, we get to launch a new experience that we’re really excited about… Formation Table!

What is it? Check out this short clip from Jonathan…

Spiritual formation is not about mastering a set of behaviors or disciplines. It isn’t about learning information or theology. It is not about having the right world view. It is about a relationship with Jesus. And it is about helping us return to who we were created to be all along.

Our prayer is that this would be an amazing year of spiritual growth as a community. We can’t wait to launch this new tool in September!
