Desperation Conference – Changed Me!

July 29, 2026 by James Thomas

I never expected Desperation Conference to change my life, but it did. When my sister convinced me (James Thomas) to sign up for it, I wasn’t super excited because it was going to make me come out of my comfort zone, and challenge me spiritually. The first day really opened me up to the rest of the conference. Through worship and the messages, God revealed what had been missing in my walk with Him.

As the second day rolled around, I felt more at peace. The acquaintances I knew were becoming more like friends, and I was starting to see the community God wanted me to be involved in. As the day went on, I kept growing closer to God, with the panel questions, with the time I spent with my new friends, and with every worship session and message. The final message really rocked my world. It led me to ask for prayer over the strongholds in my life that were limiting my relationship with God.  During this, a man came up to me and prophesied over my life, which was the most bizarre yet amazing experience I have ever had.

The next day, it felt as if God was telling me how to carry on this new revelation I had the night before, into the school year, and into my everyday life. He was showing me how to become more like Him every day and reminding me that even when I fail, He forgives me and makes all things new.

Despo ‘26 was such a life altering experience, that I hope everyone has the chance to attend. I met so many nice people, made friendships, and encountered God in so many ways. I had great leaders who led by example, and who made sure I had the best experience possible. If you’re hesitant about stepping out of your comfort zone like I was, I’d encourage you to take the chance. God met me at Desperation Conference in ways I never expected, and I’m so thankful I said yes.

INCREASE MY GIFT

Thank you for your ongoing investment at Pulpit Rock and saying yes to increasing or adjusting your partnership here!

You will notice that our giving page looks new – that’s because our giving is now through Church Center – it’s a more secure, donor friendly platform where you can set up your gift and manage your profile, donation history, recurring donations & notifications.

There are a few important things to know as we make this transition:

  • When you set up your gift you are replacing your existing recurring donation, not adding another one – so just use the new total you feel led to give
  • If you have any questions about the amount or frequency that you currently give, we can help with that
  • We will cancel your current recurring donation that is through EFT Corporation
  • You will receive an email from us that confirms both the new donation and the cancellation of the existing one

As a reminder, our finance team are the only ones who see individual donor info – we do not share what people give with pastors or staff.

We think you’ll find the new system easy to use but are here to help with the change. Please reach out with any questions or for assistance along the way!
