Let’s be honest “adulting” can get a little lonely and sometimes your wondering where did all the “let’s grab coffee” people go? Enter CHOP: Community Happens on Purpose.
CHOP isn’t a singles mixer. It’s not matchmaking. Nobody’s handing out name tags with hearts on them. It’s just a genuinely good group of people, ages 22 to 80 (yes, really, all ages) . Who decided that connection doesn’t happen by accident. It happens on purpose. Hence the name.
So what does that look like in real life? Sometimes it’s coffee. Sometimes it’s a hike. Sometimes it’s a casual Bible study where the conversation wanders in the best way. What it always is: a place to show up as you are, no pressure, no judgment, and leave with a few more people in your corner.
We already tried it out and it worked
Our first CHOP gathering pulled in about 15 people, ranging from Steven the intern (21, bless him) to folks in their 50s. Eight guys, seven women, plenty of food, and according to everyone there a genuinely good crowd. Not awkward. Not forced. Just people enjoying each other’s company. Each month we do something new, like go bowling, play games, build bunk beds for our LoveYourNeighbor ministry, and grabbed lunch at Ivy Wild, its fun.
And the momentum’s building: we’ve already got close to 50 people on our radar, with about 20 signed up for the email list to stay in the loop.
Our next event is October 17th at 10:30 AM at a Pumpkin Patch at Venetucci Farm – Mark your Calendar! and Join the CHOP email list
