Each summer we engage both our Middle School and High School PRiSM groups in missions.
Here’s why we have chosen to opt for a mission week instead of a camp week: While students can have a blast together, build relationships and grow spiritually at both a summer camp week and a summer mission week, the missions focus really brings another important element to the week – leading students in getting outside themselves.
Statistics today say that most young adults become disenchanted with the church once they leave for college. A proven way to prevent this is getting students involved in meaningful service at their church. (Of course that would make a difference! Don’t we all want to find meaning and purpose for our lives?)
PRiSM is actively working on shifting our students’ focus from consumerism to leadership.
One specific way we are doing this this summer is through our PRiSM Middle School Week On Mission. This summer, our Middle School group will be leading and serving in our annual Sports Camp, June 19-23. Students will be junior coaches for the sports clinics, co-leaders for the small group times and will also help Mark Windle and myself (Suzy Bates) run the halftime program. We are going to have a blast together, we’ll do training each day before camp begins, and each student will have meaningful ways to serve and lead this younger group of kids.
The Week On Mission will be 3 – 8:30 PM each evening of Sports Camp, with a big party for the Middle Schoolers running later into the evening on Friday night to celebrate. The cost will be minimal, only needing to cover their t-shirt and dinners each evening. This week-long event is so accessible!
Get your Middle School students there, registration will open soon.

I understand your goals and I like them, thankfully I’m not perfect. I will have to answer some questions to my daughter extended family and they will wont to know which denomination you are most closely similar to. I am looking for a Bible based church. I like the student program I was reviewing as my youngest living at home just turned 13 and she will be a rising 8th grader.
