New Ways to Connect

March 27, 2017 | Written by

We spend a lot of time talking about community around here. We want everyone to feel connected and cared for. Relationships are pretty much at the very top of our priority list.

That’s why we are excited to tell you about several new ways for you to connect…

Blended and Blessed (a livestream event)

B+B.web1.300x390Who: Anyone who is part of a blended family or cares for someone who is.

Blended & Blessed is a free one-day event and livestream for stepfamily couples, single parents, dating couples with kids, and those who care about blended families. Join hundreds of sites around the globe as we unpack five keys that are crucial to healthy stepfamily marriages.

As soon as folks ask, “How many kids do you have in your blended family?” and I reply six, the typical response is, “Just like the Brady Bunch.” The Brady family did try to show some of the struggles. However, they represented an ideal that does not exist and might have done a disservice to those expecting harmony instead of the chaos that can occur. The challenges that are present day to day in blended families can shake a person to the core of what they believe family should look like.

Restoration

Who: Anyone who is in need of restoration

What dRestorationo Joseph, the Children of Israel, Moses, Joshua, Elijah, David, Job, John the Baptist, Jesus, and Paul all have in common? They all had an experience of living in the wilderness.

You may find yourself having an experience like that too – a period of aloneness, of dryness, and maybe even of hopelessness. It is often a time of grumbling against circumstances and against God:
The people spoke against God and Moses, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this miserable food.” (Numbers 21:5)

However, the wilderness is not a mistake, a punishment, or an abandonment — it can be a time designed by God to fulfill His purposes:
“In the wilderness He fed you manna which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do good for you in the end.” (Deuteronomy 8:6)

In the wilderness, we are not alone. The Lord is right there with us guiding, caring, and encouraging us during the duration that we may find the rest He provides:
“The Lord says: ‘The people who survive the sword will find favor in the wilderness; I will come to give rest to Israel.’” (Jeremiah 31:3)

I believe that all of God’s children will encounter a wilderness experience at some time or another in their walk with God. Having patience in the wilderness is not an easy thing, but having others who are wanderers as well can sweeten the time and shorten the process of finding His rest. That is the goal: finding the rest God provides and knowing the God whose rest it is.

Being a part of “Restoration” may be a temporary thing; it can be a time and place for wilderness wanderers to experience fellowship, seek to know Jesus, and find purpose in His ways.

All wanderers are welcome to “Restoration.”

Map Your Journey

Who: Anyone who would like to be intentional about their future.

jean-frederic-fortier-25858This is a five week workshop focused on being intentional with the next five years of your life.

In a sermon last summer, Thomas mentioned that he had recently taken some time to come before the Lord and ask:
What do You want my walk with You to look like five years from now?
What do I need to be doing now to nurture that vision?
As I listened to that sermon I reflected on the great value doing this had been for me and I wondered if there were others at Pulpit Rock who would like to join with a few others and come to a quiet place and recalculate?

During these past few weeks, we are being challenged by the “4:8 Principle” and this workshop an opportunity to integrate these forty days of challenge more deeply into the routine of our lives.

Each session will begin with a 10-15 minute introduction, followed by time will be spent prayerfully listening to God and putting our goals in writing.

Stop by the table in the Gathering Place for more info or to sign up.

Sundays | 10:30AM | Room 109 | Begins April 23
