How Can We Help?

March 2, 2022 | Written by Hannah Eads

When we hear about a crisis in the world, it can sometimes be difficult to know how to help in tangible and beneficial ways, especially with so many great organizations stepping in to respond. In light of the recent events in Ukraine, we’ve put together a list of a few ways you can pray and give:

  • This article from The Gospel Coalition, written by a church planter/pastor in Ukraine, gives us some specific ways we can pray for those in Ukraine. Read it here.
  • Josiah Venture, a ministry that partners with local churches throughout Europe, has teams located in the neighboring countries to Ukraine. They are preparing emergency housing for refugees and working to mobilize the churches there to aid Ukrainians who are forced to flee. They will also be providing updated prayer requests. Here are current prayer requests and ways to support them financially.
  • European Christian Mission International, a missions organization that some of our strategic partners are connected to, has set up a Ukraine Crisis Fund. Tens of thousands of refugees are expected to arrive in Lviv as they move from the eastern part of the country, and an ECMI team there is preparing to receive them. Find more info and ways to give here.
  • Radooga, a Christian youth ministry based in Ukraine, is collecting donations towards humanitarian help (mattresses, food, hygiene items, etc.) and funds to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Learn more and donate here.
  • World Central Kitchen is serving thousands of fresh meals to both Ukrainian families fleeing the country and to those remaining in the country. They currently have teams in Poland and Romania, and are arriving soon to Moldova, Slovakia, and Hungary. If you’d like to support their efforts, you can do so here.

This is not a comprehensive list – we know there are many ways you can be praying for Ukrainians, and many great organizations you can donate to. But we hope this provides you with some helpful resources and tangible steps you can take to respond to the recent crisis in Ukraine.

Above all else, let’s remember, as the article from The Gospel Coalition puts it, “There is only One who controls the flow of history: ‘The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His kingdom rules over all’ (Psalm 103:19).” And let’s continue to pray that believers in Ukraine would believe and remember this truth amidst the fear, loss, hurt, and tragedy.
