Over the past ten years, our ministry at International Church of Oahu has centered on helping people love God, love people, serve, and engage their world for Christ, in one of the most diverse and spiritually complex places in the U.S. We’ve invested deeply in relationships, teaching, preaching, discipleship groups, and community outreach, while investing in the church’s leadership structure and building for long‑term health.
It was very sudden and unexpected when the Lord made it clear to both of us on the same day, at the same, but in separate locations that He was calling us to serve him as missionaries overseas. It turns out that He has been preparing us for this cross-cultural ministry all along. We’ve watched God bring steady, meaningful growth – not just in attendance, but in spiritual depth.
We’ve watched God bring steady, meaningful growth – not just in attendance, but in spiritual depth. People have engaged Scripture with new hunger, taken bold steps of obedience, and embraced serving in ways that stretch their faith. Hawai’i is a very transient place, which means many people have come to International Church of Oahu and been discipled and led, before launching into their next place of residence. It’s been a time of building the kingdom around the world!
We’ve seen families restored, new believers baptized, and long‑time believers rediscover the joy of grace in their walk with Jesus. One of the most encouraging trends has been seeing people take ownership of ministry, stepping into leadership roles, and engaging the community of Oahu with more boldness and intentionality. The church has become more rooted, more outward‑focused, and more unified in mission.
There are so many that come to mind! One story that continues to encourage us involves a young mother. She grew up in the church but fell away and had a son out of wedlock. She had struggled to raise him alone and began attending our church during a difficult season of life. She came in carrying real hurt and deep questions about faith and identity. Through consistent community, patient discipleship, and the work of the Holy Spirit, we watched her rediscover the faith she had walked away from. She has blossomed over the last few years! She’s moved from uncertainty to a vibrant, confident relationship with Jesus.
She currently leads women’s bible study and an outreach group for family members of addicts… and is considering coming into the church staff. It’s been a beautiful picture of how God uses the gospel and the local church to bring healing, purpose, and transformation.
This next season is a significant transition as we step into full‑time missions as a family! We believe God is leading us into a ministry focused on cross‑cultural discipleship, leadership development, and strengthening the local church in a global context.
Our heart is to take what God has cultivated in us through years of pastoral ministry in Hawai’i and pour it into communities and leaders who need encouragement, training, and gospel partnership. Right now, as we build support and partnership for the mission, we’re learning to step out in faith, trust God to open doors, build relationships, and use us in ways that extend beyond what we could do in our own power.
We are so grateful for Pulpit Rock’s partnership. Here are a few specific ways you can pray and support us:
For spiritual covering as we step into new ministry contexts and cultures
For financial provision as we raise support and build a sustainable foundation for long‑term missions (we’re at 50% of monthly support needed)
For open doors and divine connections with local leaders and communities in Germany
For wisdom and clarity as we navigate logistics, transitions, and new rhythms during this move
For our family’s health, unity, and joy in the midst of change
Thank you! Your encouragement, prayers, and partnership mean more than we can express.
