LoveYourNeighbor Impact

July 10, 2024 | Written by Patsy Woods

Love Your Neighbor is starting off to a busy summer.  During the month of July, the woodshop will host 4 different youth/church groups.  This is a great opportunity for folks outside of Pulpit Rock Church to learn about LYN and how we impact the El Paso County community and extended locations. We welcome our very own Prism group, Fellowship Bible Church, Acts 2 Community, and Eastside Church of Christ from Oklahoma!

It is always our wish that we would one day run out of requests for a bed. Unfortunately, the numbers keep rising.   The need continues.  It is our hope to provide love and kindness to the family in need. The month of June we had 25 bed requests come through the LYN website.  There are times we receive special requests.  A full-size bed for moms and children coming out of domestic violence situations highlights the importance of comfort during difficult times. A bed can be more than just a piece of furniture—it becomes a place of safety and healing. It can take time for children to move from their mother’s bed into their own. The trauma these families have experienced underscores the significance in providing them with a sense of security.

Sometimes we find ourselves delivering outside of El Paso County – Pueblo, Aurora and way out in Cheyenne Wells.  Each delivery was a blessing to not just the family but to our team.  Meeting families where they are in life, without judgment, is a powerful way to make a difference.  Witnessing the joy in children’s hearts when they receive a bed for the first time – indeed, that feeling is priceless.  It’s a reminder of the profound impact small acts of kindness can have on someone’s life.

We are grateful for donors, and volunteer participation in the woodshop and deliveries.

Loving Your Neighbor is life changing – let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus together!
