Lets Talk Tables

January 17, 2023 | Written by Caitlin Garrett

We talk about the Table at Pulpit Rock a lot – Jesus spent so much of his time around tables and the early church gathered regularly to break bread and spend time in conversation and prayer.  We have a few different table experiences here, but you might be confused about which table is which and if one might be right for you. Here’s a quick look at each one:

First Table: This is the best first step if you’re new(ish) around here and checking things out. Pulpit Rock is so much more than a Sunday morning worship service and we’d love to buy you breakfast and tell you more about this community. We don’t want to overwhelm you with a bunch of content, we really just want to get to know you and share a little bit about us. We believe a table is the perfect place to do it. Sometimes you even need a place to belong before you believe, so wherever you are in your journey with God, you’re welcome at our table. First Table typically happens on the last Sunday of each month during the 9am service – our next scheduled breakfast is January 29th. Sign up here!

Second Table: This is the next step towards connection and getting plugged in at Pulpit Rock. We recommend that everyone that has attended First Table make it a point to attend Second Table, but you don’t have to have attended First Table to sign up. You also don’t have to be new to Pulpit Rock to attend – just a desire to get to know some more people and/or to learn about some of the values we’re pursuing here. Stepping into an existing small group can be intimidating, so we’ve created Second Table to be a low pressure, 6-week experience to meet others that are also looking for connection and friendship. Each week we’ll provide some breakfast, discussion around the table with different staff and members of Pulpit Rock and opportunities to form relationships. Second Table is held quarterly, sign up here to learn about the next session!

The Dinner Table: These are a fun and informal way to get to know other people at Pulpit Rock. Groups will be about 6-8 people with the goal to meet together 3 times from February – April. Meals can be at group members’ homes, a restaurant, or space can even be reserved at PRC. This spring we are offering tables for all adults and other tables just for women.
A few discussion questions will be provided to group participants but the goal here is just to connect. Sign up by January 30th for this spring session!

One of these table experiences may be just the fit for you. Reach out to Caitlin if you have questions!
