CarePortal Fund: A Lifeline for Families in Crisis
In February, we partnered with Beautiful Redemption to assist a family facing eviction. The mother had lost her job due to being replaced by AI, and the 20-year-old son was working full-time to support his parents and three siblings. Despite his efforts, he was searching for a second job to make ends meet. Thanks to the CarePortal Fund at PRC, we were able to provide rental assistance and prevent their eviction, which was set to happen in just four days. Additionally, we provided grocery gift cards to help relieve their budget, allowing them to save for the next month’s rent.
CarePortal continues to be a vital platform that Pulpit Rock Church uses to reach families in crisis.
What is CarePortal? Some of you might remember when Suzy and I did a short skit on stage introducing it on a Sunday morning. We had a cool setup in the Gathering Place that showed family’s current needs. If you’re not familiar with it, CarePortal is a platform used by agencies throughout Colorado, including DHS, CASA, Lutheran Family Services, and multiple school districts to meet basic needs of families in crisis, and PRC is a “Church Responder” in El Paso County. When a caseworker inputs a need into the CarePortal platform for a family, an alert goes out to the community, church responders, organizations, and businesses, allowing the need to be met.
Here are two ways you can help:
1. You can sign up through CarePortal to be a Pulpit Rock Church Responder. I can assist with this or you can go to https://www.careportal.org/
2. We are excited to announce the establishment of a CarePortal Fund at PRC! This fund allows us to collectively provide love and support to families in need by meeting requests and runs through our Love Your Neighbor Ministry (our ministry that serves families by providing bunkbeds, meals through our Meal Train platform, and fulfilling basic needs through CarePortal).
If you would like to donate to the CarePortal Fund, please visit Love Your Neighbor at https://loveyourneighborcs.com/ and click on “Donate.” Under Comments please request that the funds go towards the CarePortal Fund. Our team will use these gifts to then meet the needs of families in crisis.
This is a lot of information! And I’d love to have a more in-depth conversation….let’s have coffee or grab me on a Sunday at church or email me at patsy@loveyourneighborcs.com.
Together, we can make more of an impact!
