You’ve been hearing a lot about Love Your Neighbor and CarePortal lately…
CarePortal has become a huge part of serving at Pulpit Rock. All of you amazing Pulpit Rockers have been partnering with CarePortal for a little over 3 years now. In that short amount of time, you have made an impact on a countless number of lives in your city.
It’s easy to forget, but when you answer a CarePortal request to help a child, you are showing God’s love to a lot of people along the way. I have heard dozens of stories from caseworkers, families and friends of the child that are amazed that a church is willing to help out with no strings attached. You, the people of Pulpit Rock, truly understand and live out what it means to love your neighbors.
I know that none of you serve or love your neighbors in order to get a pat on the back or praise from anyone, but I would like to take a few minutes to brag on you a little bit.
Some big things have happened in the CarePortal world recently that are a direct result of the powerful love you show your neighbors in El Paso County.
The people of Pulpit Rock have served over 1,500 children through CarePortal! That is a mind-boggling number.
To give you a reference, imagine our sanctuary, set up with chairs (pre-COVID). On a fairly full Sunday, we would have between 300 and 400 people in the sanctuary. Now, imagine that with only kids in the chairs and multiply it by 4. Amazing, isn’t it? And that’s only the children – don’t forget about all the family, friends and caseworkers that have felt loved because you decided to step in and help.
By making sure all one thousand five hundred of those kids felt seen, known and loved, you have made an economic impact of over $500,000. That’s right – over half a million dollars!
When you help a child, you are doing more than just providing a bed, a coat or diapers. You are supporting their well-being and keeping them on a healthier, batter cared for path for life.
There are a lot of calculations that go into finding the economic impact. They are all based on factual studies and the different areas where the child may be in the system – foster care, re-uniting with their biological family, kin-like placements, etc.
If you would like to read more on the calculations, you can check them out here.
Because I track those numbers regularly and I hear all the great stories from you as you get opportunities to serve and love your neighbors, I was not surprised when I heard that Pulpit Rock was in the running for a major CarePortal award.
And… Pulpit Rock Church was selected as the 2020 CarePortal Church of the Year!
That’s a pretty big deal. There are over 2,300 churches involved with CarePortal nationwide and they picked Pulpit Rock. CarePortal picked YOU, not only because they see how many children you have served, but they have also heard a lot of amazing stories about the ways you step up and choose to love your neighbors on a regular basis.
Pulpit Rock is known as the church that helps. You are known as the people that aren’t afraid to step into the mess of the world, get your hands dirty and make sure that kids feel SEEN, KNOWN and LOVED.
I regularly take a step back and thank God for you. I am so grateful to serve alongside each and every one of you. And, I look forward to serving with you more in the future.
Keep it up, Pulpit Rock. Your love is showing.
