Introducing … Mercy Masks

April 29, 2020 by Pulpit Rock Staff

Faye Palmer, one of our Pulpit Rock group leaders is finding a way to stay engaged in serving others using her talents.

This time of social distancing and connection mostly by computer screens has been difficult. I grew up on a farm where everyone chipped in to do the work and even though I am teaching strings private lessons from home, I am not allowed to be in contact with my school students because the school wants to focus on math and reading. Our small group is keeping in contact only by email and phone calls.

So, I have felt led by the Lord to do what I can for others as a way of serving Him.

I’ve begun a homemade mask ministry called Mercy Masks.

I have been using my skills for making and giving masks to family, friends, neighbors, and a medical clinic. I’m packaging the mask in a bag with a verse of scripture pertaining to God’s mercy to provide extra encouragement.

My husband and I also serve on a Salvation Army shelter meal team and I reached out to the director there to see if they needed masks. They have asked for 20-25 masks a month for their staff and homeless volunteers.

Making the masks has been therapeutic for me and I would love to have others join me!

Some may have the talent for sewing and would like to make and donate masks, and others may not sew or have the time to do so, but would be willing to purchase materials like some have my friends have so that I might have more to give away.

If you would be interested in learning more or coming along side me to make masks, please contact me at mercymasks@gmail.com.

If you’d like to donate money or materials, please contact Caitlin Garrett.
