Since we’ve been keeping the auditorium doors shut over the last few weeks, I thought you might want to know what’s going on in there. The short story is … a lot has been going on in there! I’m assuming none of you would be satisfied with the short story, so here’s the latest:
- Almost all of the framing and drywall is complete! All of the balcony rooms have been framed out and drywall is going up right now. Once the overhead proscenium is in place the stage will be framed out – that only leaves the sound booth and rear counters.
- We decided to lower the front balcony walls in the new rooms and increase the window size. This will give families in the Family Room or Cry Room better sight lines to the stage so they can still be engaged in the message or worship. We will also have the audio from the main auditorium sent to the balcony rooms – each room will have their own volume control.
- The crew has started cutting the cable trench from the sound booth to the stage. This will eliminate all of the overhead cables and extension cords that were found after the flood.
- The “wing” walls are framed, primed and ready for paint and stonework!
What a crazy journey this has been! The initial flood happened on October 3, 2015 – we have come a long way in a short time!
Here are a few numbers to give this journey a little perspective:
Timeline | October 3, 2015 – July 26, 2016
- We have discovered several thousand feet of extension cords in the auditorium ceiling
- We have been without the auditorium for 297 days
- We have replaced over 450 ceiling tiles
- We have repainted 20 room walls and 5 offices
- We have been blessed with funding for a $1.4 Million project
- We have trusted 1 GOD
I confidently speak for all of our Pulpit Rock Church staff when I say we are happy to be on this journey with you and alongside Him! Thank you for your continued commitment to follow God and his plan for us at Pulpit Rock.
