When I became the Small Groups Director, I was excited about helping people connect and find community here. Every week, someone would say they were ready to join a small group. I would point them to our wide buffet of group options. Almost without fail, nothing would come of it. I knew there had to be a better way to help people connect.
This summer, I’ve been learning about how watching people is a form of worship. Watching them connect with God and watching them use their gifts. Watching them be gracious, patient, and vulnerable. Watching them take care of their neighbors’ pets and lawns. Watching them pursue other people.
When I was growing up, pastors always looked one way: They wore long black robes with purple stoles, and they were men. As a kid, I never questioned this; it was just how things were. Fast forward many years, and my husband and I started attending Pulpit Rock. But then this thing happened. A woman taught one Sunday.
Asher Tuggle shares about his time in Corpus Christie doing clean up from Hurricane Harvey: “It was amazing to see God using us to make an impression on the kids [and] give the worship leader hope for what his kids could grow into, just by us showing up and singing some songs with people we may never meet again.”
On Sunday we sent a group of our students off to Cortez, CO for the week. We thought you’d enjoy an insiders view of the all the fun. So Mark has asked a few students to give daily updates on the trip.
There is a constant struggle and tension in my life between following rules and showing God’s grace and generosity. But I am often reminded that I represent a generous, caring Heavenly Father who would always choose to give.

In June, ten members of our church went on a trip to Haiti with Mission of Hope. They visited homes, hosted a Kids Club, distributed solar lights, water filters and goats. Here are a few snapshots of the trip.
